2014 Neocon Highlights

We wanted to share with you some highlights of our recent trip to the largest trade show in North America for office furniture…NEOCON! The main thing we have learnt is that the office world is changing and becoming a very happening place!

1. COLOUR IS EVERYWHERE!

And why not? Who says the office has to be boring and drab. Colours inspire and allow us to be more creative and productive in the workplace. What company wouldn’t want this for its employees? We should take a page out of Google’s or Nike’s book as these forward thinking companies recognize the importance and use it to help create the most stimulating working environment.

2. SPACES FOR COLLABORATIVE WORK

The day of the cubicle office is numbered! We agree that we still need space for individual work but the atmosphere in the work place is evolving and so much of work today is now being able to be part of a think tank where you share, collaborate and bounce ideas off each other. Therefore to accommodate this, spaces now need to be more flexible and interchangeable.

3. OFFICE FURNITURE IS LOOKING MORE LIKE RESIDENTIAL FURNITURE

We spend so much of our waking hours at the office, so why not make that environment more like a place we love…our homes. From the vibrant colours to the sophisticated fabrics, companies are focusing more on the design and creating aesthetically pleasing products whilst maintaining and enhancing the functional attributes.

Lastly we want to share with you the coolest chair we saw while at the show. It is called the FREEDMAN chair and it really is the chair of the future. The FreedMan Chair is the only chair in the world that allows the spine and pelvis to achieve the same posture in sitting as when standing. Quite simply, it is a better way to sit.

It also reminds us of something that ET might have inspired!

Well there you have it folks…some highlights from the 2014 Neocon Trade Show! We are definitely excited about this new direction in the office furniture world and how effects offices in Barbados.
